Iowa lawmakers decline to advance bill that would remove gender identity from the state’s civil rights law — "The Human Rights Campaign (HRC), a pro-LGBTQ advocacy group, celebrated the bill’s failure to advance in a Thursday post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. As anti-trans legislation proliferates in 2024, community fears erasure from public view — "'For years, transgender people have warned of radical anti-LGBTQ+ forces’ true aim: to abuse governmental power to take away our freedoms and drive trans people out of public society,' said Kelley Robinson, the organization’s president, in a statement decrying what she called a “sinister agenda." Global corporations Deutsche Bank and PayPal torpedoed plans to expand in Cary and Charlotte. The NCAA moved its scheduled championship games elsewhere.
